ABOUT THE PROJECT

The congregation of the St. Julia A.M.E. Zion Church of Jacksonville desired a new facility that would express their mission of outreach. Our design team developed a master plan providing a new multi-purpose worship facility that includes a sanctuary to accommodate 350, a fellowship hall, classrooms, commercial kitchen, and multi-purpose spaces. Working within the confines of an existing site, our design team developed a phased construction plan to accommodate new construction and allow weekly services in the old church building. Upon completion of the new facility, the existing church building was scheduled for demolition. Site planning included parking, accessibility, storm water management, and a new playground. The curvilinear masonry wall of multiple apertures designates a departure point of spiritual paths of outreach.
